Joey Pomeroy, Violin & Viola

Joey began studying violin at the age of 8 with Garnik Goukasian at Holy Names Music Center. He currently holds a degree in viola performance from Central Washington University, studying violin under Carrie Rehkopf before switching focus to viola and studying under Dr. Michelle Rahn. Joey was the principal violist of the CWU Symphony for two and a half years and qualified for nationals in the Music Teachers National Association chamber ensemble division with the Hiraeth string quartet. Joey was the winner of the 2017 Spokane Youth Symphony concerto competition and received an honorable mention in the 2019 CWU concerto competition. He has also performed with different symphonies and chamber ensembles in famous venues such as the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., Benaroya Hall in Seattle, and several locations in Croatia and Bosnia.
