Rachel Bade-McMurphy received her bachelor’s degree from Washington State University and is currently pursuing a master’s degree at Eastern Washington University in Jazz Pedagogy. She is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and composer who has released 2 full-length CDs of original compositions. Her recordings have received international radio play, and national reviews.
A passionate teacher, she has taught private lessons and performed small-group jazz for over 15 years and works as a woodwind specialist with the Mead school district for 5 years. In addition to performing and teaching, she is passionate about igniting the local music and jazz scene. She is the founder of Imagine Jazz, an organization dedicated to bringing great Jazz artists from around the globe to the Spokane area for concerts and workshops. She also runs The Spokane Jazz Connection, a social media avenue to promote local jazz happenings, and serves as the Director of Spokane All-City Jazz Ensembles (SAJE).
