The guitar is a flexible instrument, whose tone and timbre are suitable for most styles of music. It is a polyphonic instrument which means that it is capable of playing more than one tone at a time so it can be used to play harmonies. It plays a central role in popular music. The mandolin and ukulele belong to same family as the guitar but are much smaller. The mandolin has eight steel strings and the ukulele has 4 strings usually of nylon. Guitars typically have 6 strings. Carlos Santana said: “The guitar is your first wings. It’s assigned and designed to unfold your vision and imagination.”
