The saxophone has long been a star instrument in jazz, big bands, and solo performances. Adolph Sax’s idea was to create an instrument that combined the best qualities of a woodwind instrument with the best qualities of a brass instrument. American jazz saxophonist Stan Getz said: “If you like an instrument that sings, play the saxophone. At its best it’s like the human voice.”
