Yekaterina Slyusarev, a Kyrgyzstan-born violinist, has been making her mark on Spokane’s music scene since completing her Bachelor’s degree in violin performance from Eastern Washington University in 2016. During her studies at EWU, Yekaterina developed a love for contemporary music while performing in numerous chamber groups. She co-founded the Evnika Trio, a project dedicated to featuring contemporary composers and newly composed works for violin, clarinet, and piano. In 2016, her exceptional talent was recognized with the Yarwood Excellence Award.
From 2010 to 2019, Yekaterina served as the children’s choir director at Light of the Gospel Slavic Baptist Church, where she shared her musical gifts and leadership skills with young singers. After graduating, she continued her career by teaching and performing in and around the Spokane area, becoming a passionate promoter of the Suzuki teaching method. Yekaterina firmly believes that every child has the potential to succeed with the right nurture and support, and she brings that philosophy into her teaching.
Beyond music, Yekaterina is an avid rock climber and enjoys spending time with her dogs. Whether scaling a rock face or guiding her students through their musical journeys, she brings passion, dedication, and a spirit of adventure to everything she does.
