From Spokane to Interlochen
We’re thrilled to share some exciting news from our Holy Names Music Center (HNMC) community—Sheba Hisa Chen, a talented vocalist and multi-instrumentalist who studies with our very own Chloe Sundet (voice) and Aaron Bratt (guitar), has been accepted into the prestigious Interlochen Arts Camp for the summer of 2025!
Sheba, 16, is currently a student at Saint George’s School and will be entering her junior year this fall. A passionate performer born in Ireland, Sheba’s love of musical theatre has been fueled by years of musical training, artistic discipline, and deep dedication. She also studies piano with Dr. David Demand, Music Director at Saint George’s.
Her summer studies at Interlochen will focus on Musical Theatre, where she’ll join other top young artists from around the world in a program known for launching the careers of countless performers, musicians, and creatives.
Sheba is no stranger to the stage—or the spotlight. She has played lead roles in school productions including Sophie in Mamma Mia! and Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, as well as appearing as an Ancestor in Moana at Spokane Civic Theatre. She is also comfortable in front of the camera, with experience as a model, showing the same confidence and poise that she brings to her musical work.
Her growing list of accolades includes:
🎵 Katy Reeves Award – recipient two years in a row at Saint George’s School
🎹 Top marks at Musicfest Northwest – for both voice and piano
🎤 NAfME All-Northwest Mixed Honor Choir – selected among the region’s top high school vocalists
Sheba’s artistic development is also deeply personal—she’s the daughter of internationally acclaimed pianists and educators Dr. Archie Chen and Rhona Gouldson-Chen, who serve as Co-Executive Directors here at Holy Names Music Center. Artistic excellence truly runs in the family.
