Beat Summer Break Fever: HNMC’s Tips to Keep Up with Your Musical Goals
With summer just around the corner, it’s only natural for our attention to start drifting. Thoughts of vacations, sunny days, summer camps, and a well-earned
The Global Holiday Fair & Bake Sale was a fundraiser for local nonprofit cultural organizations in Spokane and a vibrant tapestry of cultural significance that fostered community spirit and celebrated cultural heritage.
Throughout the fair, visitors were immersed in art, music, and holiday traditions passed down for centuries. From handmade goods to festive performances, the event offered a unique opportunity to experience global cultures in a joyful and welcoming setting. The fair was organized by Spokane United We Stand, a multicultural organization dedicated to celebrating Spokane’s diverse cultures through anti-bullying initiatives, cultural preservation, education, and community-building.
The fair took place on the second level of River Park Square Mall from December 17 through December 28. It featured vendors dressed in traditional attire who offered family-friendly, interactive activities and cultural food samples. Attendees explored handmade products, baked goods, and one-of-a-kind gifts created by Spokane’s local artists, makers, and organizations committed to preserving cultural heritage while sharing cherished holiday traditions from around the world.
All purchases directly supported participating organizations in sustaining their programs and were 100% tax-deductible.
The week-long event began on a strong note with a beautifully arranged table filled with treats and gifts. A special thank-you goes to Mary Ella VanVoorhis for creating the adorable mini gingerbread houses, which quickly became a favorite among visitors. On the first day alone, the booth raised $485, thanks to the generosity of those who stopped by to make purchases or contribute to the donation bucket.
A heartfelt thank-you also goes out to the talented students and teachers who performed throughout the week, including Grace and Hannah Moon, Yevgeny Grechko and Nursulu Dyikanbaeva (cello and piano), and Christopher Anderson (violin and piano).
We invite you to enjoy photos of the performers and the beautifully decorated booths that reflected the richness and diversity of our community. Thank you to everyone who helped make the Global Holiday Fair 2025 a meaningful and memorable celebration.
