From the Co-Director’s Chair: Rhona & Archie’s Lunar-tic Adventure!

Hey there, Music Maniacs and Melody Mavens!

Your fearless Co-Directors are fresh off the boat from our Lunar New Year Expo extravaganza, and oh boy, do we have tales for your tunes-loving ears!

Imagine the scene: our Holy Names Music Center booth is smack-dab in the middle of the action, a veritable sandwich of cultural fabulosity with a side of petting zoo chic. On one side, we had the stoic Military Vets, and on the other, a Chinese Restaurant with a menu that had our mouths watering in A-flat major.

Our pop-up posters were popping, our smiles were symphonic, and let me tell you, the crowd couldn’t resist our siren songs. They flocked in hundreds, each with a story that played out like a grand opus—tales of musical pasts, dreams of ivory-tickling futures, and tiny tots eager to dive into do-re-mi.

Now, let’s not forget our “Bach to Future” event coming up on April 26-27th—it was the belle of the ball! Those lucky enough to snag one of the first 5000 entries to the Expo hit the jackpot with a lucky red envelope, and guess what was inside? A $25 HNMC voucher—because who doesn’t love a little musical moolah?

Kiddos were on a scavenger hunt for stamps, making our booth a veritable treasure island. And just when the clock struck 2pm, we took to the stage, our four hands dancing across the keys like a pair of dragons chasing pearls across the sky, playing Asian tunes that would make even the Moon Rabbit tap his foot.

Huge shoutout to HNMC Board President, Mollie Dalpae, who kept our booth fortress secure while we serenaded the masses!

When Archie hit the stage for his solo before 3pm, it was like listening to the soundtrack of a silk road journey— Asian gems that left the crowd spellbound.

We waltzed back to our booth with a plate of Indonesian culinary masterpieces (talk about perks!), and the fun didn’t stop. The stage was a carousel of cultural splendor—from the elegant sway of Japanese kimonos to the vibrant twirl of Tibetan and Mongolian ensembles, all the way to the high-octane Lion dancers and Taiko drummers.

It was a day pulsing with the heartbeat of the Lunar New Year—joyous, vibrant, and capping off with fireworks that sparkled like the twinkle in Beethoven’s eye.

So, to all who joined us, a giant thank you for adding your verse to our melody. And to those who missed out—don’t fret! Just tune in to HNMC, where the music never stops and every day’s a chance to start your magnum opus.

Until next time, keep your scales tipped in favor of harmony!

Cheers to new beginnings and ancient melodies,

Rhona & Archie, Your Maestros of Merriment 🎹🧨🎶
